St. Thomas Aquinas writes about the celebrations of Jews in the Summa Theologica. In the Summa, St. Thomas states that celebration of the Jewish feasts are “dead and deadly.” This teaching has been encountered from some Catholic traditionalists who claim that what the AHC promotes is mortal sin.

However, after the Summa was published, St. Thomas produced commentaries on various letters of St. Paul. Of particular importance was his Commentary on Ephesians and especially, on Romans. In his commentaries, it appears that he claims that the ongoing life of Jews and their celebrations are part of God’s plan and are good.
