AHC Siddur

Many people would like to produce a Siddur that would contain a selection of prayers for use by Hebrew Catholics and other interested people. The Siddur would include prayers from both our Jewish and Catholic traditions.

Please feel free to suggest prayers, with whatever explanations you think are needed. Discussions on the various suggestions are welcome. Eventually, we will choose the prayers to be included in the Siddur and The Miriam Press, publishing arm of the AHC, will produce it.

This is the prayer I say sometime between waking up and 8 am Mass.

Who has preserved your creation and us within it,

Shema Yisrael, Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai Echad.

Blessed are Thou, O Lord our God, King of the Universe,
Who has sent forth your Son, Yeshua HaMashiach,
In fulfillment of the promises made to our ancestors,
To redeem us by His Blood,

Not really interested in the Siddur idea anymore but a little booklet with the Rosary prayers in Hebrew, and transliteration of the Hebrew into English alphabet and English would be a great idea to produce.

Hello,

I just wanted to say that an AHC siddur would be an awesome thing to have, I myself have been looking for something like this for a quite a while now, and would love to be able to buy one from the AHC. Apart from the core Catholic prayers such as the Hail Mary, Hail Holy Queen, Our Father, and the Apostle’s creed, the sign of the cross, etc. Do you guys think some other Jewish prayers such as the Shabbat prayers could perhaps be adapted to be prayed in light of the Messiah?

Speaking of Hebrew Catholic prayers, there’s an old prayer which appears to have been a native Jewish Christian prayer from the Dura-Europos community, which while, being an eucharistic prayer onto itself, could perhaps be used as a blessing over food and meals. It goes something like this:

ברוך אתה הי מלך העולם אשר ברא הכל, חלק מזון והתקין משקה לכל בני בשר בהמה ישבעו, ולנו, יצור אדם, נתן לאכול מזון של גויות רבות ממלאכו ועל הכל עלינו לברך סלה בהמון עם

Baruch atah hashem melekh ha’olam asher bara hakol chalak mazon vehitkin mashkeh lekhol benei basar behemah yisbe’u ve’lanu yetsur adam natan le’ekhol mazon shel gvyiot rabot mimalkho ve’al hakol ‘aleinu levarkh selah behamon ‘am

Blessed be the Lord, King of the Universe, who created All things, apportioned food, appointed drink
For all the children of flesh with which they shall be satisfied
But granted to us, human beings, to partake of the food

*In typing it out I realized that the Hebrew of the prayer could perhaps lead to some misunderstandings so I tried to change it up just a little bit from the actual reconstruction given by J. L. Teicher until I realized that there is an actual article about this prayer, right here in the AHC.
